Computer-Based Testing Facility (CBTF)

Quizzes in this course will be administered through the Computer-Based Testing Facility (CBTF) in Gilmer Hall 490A. The CBTF provides a secure, professionally proctored testing environment and allows students the flexibility to schedule exams within an instructor-defined testing window. Students are responsible for reserving an exam appointment and following CBTF testing policies and procedures. Additional instructions will be provided before each exam.

Accounts (PrairieTest and PrairieLearn)

Within the first week of class, every student needs to create an account on two related systems:

• Priarie Test: Prairie Test is used to make exam reservations before an exam and to actually take your exam once you arrive at the CBTF.
• Prairie Learn: Prairie Learn is used to as a portal mostly for viewing your grades AFTER an exam has occurred.

The instructor will upload a course roster within one week of class starting and add you to our course instance so that these systems will work correctly. However, each student still needs to create their own account themselves.

Practice Exam

Early in the semester (around week 3), there will be a low-stakes practice exam designed to ease everybody into the procedure of using the CBTF. Please review the document below for information regarding this practice exam.

CBTF Rules, Policies, and Procedures

Please carefully review all of the following documents, which outline the rules, policies, and procedures of the CBTF. Students are responsible for reading and following these policies.

CBTF FAQ

As common questions regarding the CBTF come up, I will put the answers to those here:

• I missed my reservation! What do I do?: If you missed your reservation at the CBTF, you need to get the old reservation manually removed. Email cbtf_admin@virginia.edu and they will help you get a new reservation set up. You need to do this in a timely manner!
